ABANDONED MEMORIES II
PAM FORTNER
SLIDE FILM, WAXED THREAD
ABIQUIU, NM
Abandoned Memories II is made of over 2500 film slides. They were salvaged from a property clean-out in 2017. The photographer, named John W. Maxwell, Jr, took tens of thousands of photographs of trains. He carefully arranged and catalogued them in metal cases, each containing about 500 slides. Most of the collection including slides, prints, negatives, drawings, and research was donated to the Denver Public Library in 2018. Approximately 19 metal cases were diverted from the landfill and instead, came into my possession. My attempts at reuniting the cases with John’s family were unsuccessful.

FRINGE
BETH KAMHI
INDUSTRIAL BEADED STEEL ROPE
CHICAGO, IL
My ultimate mission is to captivate and enthrall every viewer with my work, bringing them on a journey to discover the relationship between form and function.I am an artist, former interior designer, and lifelong learner at the intersection of art and design.
For over a decade, my artistic journey has revolved around a captivating pursuit—a harmonious balance between the physical weight, playful spirit, and sinuous elegance of industrial ball chain material. With my practice, I aim to create visually captivating installations that beckon the beholder’s gaze to the enchanting ornamental fluidity of steel, weaving and draping the steel beads to create an effect similar to that of silk threads.

Every creation thus is a symphony of connected yet independent elements, each infused with its own kinetic energy—a vivid embodiment of my unique interpretation of life. When touched, these pieces evoke a tactile sensation of industrial elegance and strength, extraordinary grace and expressive power.
I dedicate myself to finding creative solutions to transform spaces with my artwork through an affinity for combining colors, textures, shapes and materials in unexpected ways. I specialize in creating chic, bold and edgy artwork with a playfulness that never fails to elevate the ordinary.
CLUSTER PIXELATE
TOMMY MOSS
ACRYLIC PAINT ON WOODEN CUBES
ATLANTA, GA
I am a mixed media artist from Atlanta, Georgia and formerly attended the Art Institute of Atlanta, the Atlanta College of Art, and Savannah College of Art & Design/Atlanta. I create large-scale assemblages of highly colorful, textural, hand painted “modules” (i.e. circles, cubes, spheres, etc). These components are typically painted on all visible sides, pushing these “wall hung sculptures” out from the wall and giving the work a 3D-ish quality. This element also allows the viewer to experience my works from different vantage points (e.g. from the left or the right side, or from the top or the bottom).

Aristotle once said: “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” With that sentiment in mind, I love creating hundreds of hand painted pieces which stand alone as objects d’art but ultimately come together to form large configurations that are impactful from a afar yet keep the viewer engaged from any distance or location. I strive to achieve a sense of playfulness with highly chromatic, contrasting color combinations, and whimsical and lively compositions.”

UNTITLED
KARI COLLAGE
MIXED MEDIA ON PAPER
BARCELONA, SPAIN
Hi, I’m Kari Collage, a visual artist with a love for mini and micro formats. I’ve been cutting and gluing since I was a kid, but it wasn’t until 2019 that I truly returned to the practice and began sharing my work online. Collage is how I express myself. It’s playful, thoughtful, and full of surprises—and I love that. I’m especially drawn to using old materials, like images from vintage books, and giving them new life through cut-and-paste.
A lot of my work focuses on people—especially women or individuals who aren’t always seen or heard. I like placing them in colourful settings that make you pause and reflect. Even in small formats, I try to create a feeling or a story that stays with you.

Sourcing materials is one of my favorite parts of the process. I spend hours digging through second-hand books, searching for the perfect image. When I compose, I let my intuition take over—mixing, layering, and seeing where it leads. I like to keep the composition minimalistic, allowing each element to have
space and meaning, and letting small details speak the loudest.
Collage is a powerful tool for storytelling, helping me share ideas, emotions, and perspectives through simple yet intentional visual choices.
FUNCTIONAL CUT
CHUCK MCCOY
DENVER, CO
The cut-in in Functional Cut; refers to the partial slices taken out of the panels. The functional aspect means the piece doesn’t need to be framed and provides interest in the form and how the shadows become part of the work. Overall, the piece lets the viewer move in closer to follow the patterns and pick up on the details revealed through the layers, sparking a feeling of traveling through space and a different era.
The shapes and colors evoke times past, lost visions perhaps. McCoy applied paint and paper on a maple panel. Look closer and you’ll see a newspaper from the 1920s.

McCoy created major design and color elements directly in the computer, he still uses a mouse. He then supplied the fabricator with the file in order to allow them to inkjet print and cut the panel. Then he sanded down the panel revealing hidden layers and finished with more paint and wax.

SHAPE SHIFTERS
SHELLEY HEFFLER
VINYL BILLBOARD, WOVEN
PALM DESERT, CA
As an artist, I am deeply concerned about the impact that human consumption and waste have on our environment. My work centers around the transformation of discarded vinyl advertising banners into works of art that reveal a connection between our consumption habits and the environmental waste we leave behind. Each banner holds its own cultural history and significance, and my goal is to capture and communicate that history through my art. Using meticulous hand-cutting techniques, I fracture the initial image of the banner, disrupting its central intent and repurposing it into something new.
The colors and shapes of the banners are sorted and brought together to create weavings, collages, or three-dimensional wall sculptures. The final piece often bears little resemblance to the original banner, having been transformed into a complex abstract shape with a unique color scheme.
Through my art, I strive to promote awareness, provoke dialogue, and inspire action. My intention is to encourage viewers to reflect on their own consumption habits and consider the impact of their actions on the environment.
